Dr Morehu McDonald Residency

In 2025, Tutakangahau Williams (Kaiarataki Ako | Waiariki) of Tūhoe, Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Hauiti descent, was awarded the newly established Dr Morehu McDonald Residency, in honour of Morehu's steadfast commitment as Māori, to advancing kaupapa Māori, Rangahau, and te ao Māori for the betterment of te iwi Māori. Tu’s Rangahau contributed to advancing kaupapa Māori scholarship with a particular focus on Tāne Māori, providing a much-needed segue towards his aspiration of embarking on a PhD in 2026.

Te Manawahoukura Residency

Dr Kathryn Oxborrow Vambe (Senior Librarian | Porirua) was the recipient of our Te Manawahoukura Residency which focused on how mainstream researchers can be good allies within their research, with a focus on writing for publication.
