These sessions are open to all kaimahi and Tauira of Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. In celebration of Poetry month.

Friday August 1

Join us for a kōrero by Marama Salsano about a National poetry competition, different types of poetry that she gets a kick out of, and  what to expect during poetry month!

Friday August 8

Luxuriate, delight and breathe into a Te Reo Māori session about poetry, creativity, and translation with Te Mihinga Komene and Tiahomarama Fairhall.

Friday August 15

This week, Marama Salsano is back again for a Te Reo Pākehā session where we will read and discuss some Indigenous poetry and then spend time writing poems together.

Friday August 22

Join us on this National Poetry Day for an open mic to read your poems and to learn how to be included in next week's online exhibition of written, spoken, or visual poetry for the month.

Friday August 29

Marama Salsano and Te Mihinga Komene will reflect on Poetry Month Wānanga Stylz, and then an online exhibition of written, spoken, and visual poetry will go live!

Our Kairangahau Dr James Berghan and Dr Marama Salsano are running a nationwide poetry competition inviting Māori aged 16 years and over to submit their best poem about their relationships with the built environment. It’s free to enter, and entries can be submitted in English or in Te Reo Māori. First prize in each language category will win a $500 book voucher and will be published in an upcoming book about Māori relationships with the built environment!
