Expertise

Hakopa Pore is a Māori creative who has been working at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa as a Senior Graphic and Learning designer for over 12 years. Recognised for expertise in resource development both print and digital, learning design, Māori design and Māori language education. He has Bachelor of Computer Graphic Design for Te Whare Wānanga o Waikato and postgraduate qualifications in Te Reo Māori and a Masters in Applied Indigenous Knowledge. Hakopa has contributed to the creation of impactful educational resources, rebranding and rollout projects for Te Wānanga o Aotearoa working with and leading creative teams with a drive to empower our Tauira through innovative design and technology.

Key Contributions

  • Marautanga - He Atea Taonga: Initially responsible for developing printed student resources for all Te Wānanga o Aotearoa programmes, contributing to the educational materials provided to tauira.

  • Creative Project Team: A core design team member working on the rebranding project for Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, conducting in-depth rangahau, collaborating with Kaumatua, and developing new assets such as logos, fonts, colors, and imagery.

  • Rakaikahuroa Creative Team: Implemented the new brand into resource development by establishing resource-specific branding guidelines, templates, liaising with external design agencies, and providing training and development for contractors and interns.

  • Senior Graphic Designer Tokokauneke: Responsible for designing, branding, training, and migrating Te Ara Reo Māori into the iQualify platform known as Akorau, aiming to enhance tauira learning experiences with online tools and materials.

  • Akorau Team Lead: As the team lead, responsible for the Te Reo Māori suite of programmes from Level 1 to Level 7, gaining broader insights into organisational processes and functions.
