Rangahau Residencies Confirmed

Congratulations to the two successful applicants for 2025, who will both commence their residencies in July.

Tutakangahau Williams -

2025 Dr Morehu McDonald Residency

Kathryn Oxborrow Vambe -

2025 Te Manawahoukura Residency

This year we’re supporting two residencies. Both recipients will spend time in Te Manawahoukura to undertake their Rangahau projects.

Dr Morehu McDonald Residency

Tutakangahau Williams (Kaiarataki Ako | Waiariki) of Tūhoe, Ngāti Whakaue, Ngāti Hauiti descent, has been awarded the newly established Dr Morehu McDonald Residency, in honour of Morehu's steadfast commitment as Māori, to advancing kaupapa Māori, Rangahau, and te ao Māori for the betterment of te iwi Māori. Tu’s Rangahau will contribute to advancing kaupapa Māori scholarship with a particular focus on Tāne Māori, providing a much-needed segue towards his aspiration of embarking on a PhD.

Te Manawahoukura Residency

Dr Kathryn Oxborrow Vambe (Senior Librarian | Porirua) is the recipient of our Te Manawahoukura Residency focused on how mainstream researchers can be good allies within their research, with a focus on writing for publication.

Look out for next year’s call for the Residencies.
